The final episode (episode 8) of the Japanese-Finnish co-production drama "BLOOD & SWEAT" (WOWOW), starring actress Anne and popular Finnish actor Jasper Peakonen, will air and stream on May 24th. Ahead of the broadcast, highlights and still images from the final episode have been released.
Following the "TOKYO VICE" series, which garnered attention in 2022 as a co-production with Hollywood, this drama is WOWOW's latest international co-production project. It is a completely original crime suspense series co-produced by the Japanese production company "AX-ON" and the Finnish production company "ICS".
In Japan and Finland, bodies with their blood drained are discovered one after another, prompting Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Detective Aki Suzumiya (Anne) and Finnish National Bureau of Investigation (FNBI) Detective Jon Laine (Pääkkonen) to team up to investigate. Their investigation reveals that a certain "ritual" performed by Masatada (Yuki Tokito) during World War II led to the formation of the cult "White Deer Society," and that the discovered bodies were those of people sacrificed for that ritual.
In the previous episode, episode 7, Aki was captured by cult leader Majima (Taichi Saotome) and was in dire straits when Yon arrived just in the nick of time. With the Finnish police also joining the fight, Aki and the others were relieved. However, it was then revealed that Niko (Mikko Nousiainen), the Finnish police officer who had been leading the investigation into the serial murders, was also a member of the "White Deer Society," putting Aki and the others in danger once again.
In the final episode, Aki and Yon, once again captured by the cult, face off against Nico and Majima in a final battle. The setting is a sauna resort built on the site where Masatada once performed a ritual. The ritual that Nico and the others perform in search of salvation requires Aki's "blood"...
In a situation where she is surrounded by enemies, Aki and Majima engage in a one-on-one battle, in which Anzu delivers an action performance with all her heart and soul. Furthermore, shocking truths about the Suzumiya family, including her father Tokuro (Jun Kunimura) and her deceased brother Seiichi (Seiji Fukushi), are revealed.
The final episode of the drama series "BLOOD & SWEAT" will air and stream on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand from 10 PM on May 24th.
