Actress Erika Toda appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on May 22nd. She talked about the lessons she learned from her parents at home and the growth she felt from appearing in two Asadora.
He had a curfew at home, and his parents strictly told him "never to go to crowded places or festivals where there might be danger to your safety." He says, "At the time, I thought I was being raised very strictly, but now that I'm actually a parent myself, I understand my parents' feelings all too well, and I think I might end up being the same way."
She appeared in the Asadora"Audrey" when she was 11 or 12 years old. "I had no lines, I just came on stage and smiled, that's all," she said. "I was surprised to see what my face looked like, and how strained my smile was, and I didn't like it." Nineteen years later, she played the heroine in the Asadora"Scarlet."
Both Audrey and Scarlet were filmed at NHK in Osaka. "It's not like I was going back to my roots, but it was a strange feeling, like I was seeing myself again from that time (when I appeared in Audrey)," she said.
My memories from my time as Audrey Hepburn are of adults being scary. I felt like they were watching me to see if I could act properly, and I was nervous because I felt like I had to stand on set like an adult. "I was happy to come back as an adult and be able to participate in the production of the film myself," she said.
"I gave it my all, everything I was capable of, and I was aiming to express myself in a way that would push my limits, so I felt like I really did my best. I have no regrets, and the sense of accomplishment after finishing was unlike anything I've ever experienced," she reflected.
