Still worried about Sonobe, Rin followed Imai after he finished his rounds and asked him to examine Sonobe more carefully. Seeing this, Fujita became furious, saying, "Do you think a nurse is going to order the professor around?!" Kurokawa told Rin that "if there are any problems, Professor Imai, the attending physician, will give instructions," and Imai nodded without changing his expression before leaving. Fujita then told Rin, "Don't get ahead of yourself. Doctors have worked harder than you have."
Towards the end, Naomi decides that increasing the frequency of her patient Maruyama's (Tokie Wakabayashi) medication to three times a day would be optimal, and consults with Fujita. Fujita is captivated by Naomi's smile and almost agrees, saying, "Yes... three times a day..." but then snaps back to reality, saying, "No, that won't do." However, Naomi tells Fujita that Professor Imai had said he would be troubled if the hospital stay were extended.
