It has been announced that a new one-shot of Masami Yuki's manga "Mobile Police Patlabor" will be published in the May 18th issue (No. 25) of the manga magazine "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" (Shogakukan). The announcement was made in the May 11th issue (No. 24) of the same magazine, stating, "32 years have passed since then (the series ended). Transcending time, it will finally 'move' again."
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is a media mix project that includes anime and manga. Set in the near future where walking work machines called Labors have been put into practical use, it depicts the activities of the Special Vehicles Division 2 of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department as they confront Labor-related crimes, and the daily lives of the members, including Izumi Noa. The manga by Masami Yuki was serialized in the manga magazine "Weekly Shonen Sunday" from 1988 to 1994.
The upcoming anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY," is generating a lot of buzz. The new series will be directed by Yutaka Izubuchi, a member of the legendary creative group "HEADGEAR" who worked on the original "Mobile Police Patlabor" and was in charge of mechanical design. Kazunori Ito, also from "HEADGEAR," will be in charge of the script and series composition. JCSTAFF will be producing the anime.
The series will consist of three chapters and eight episodes in total, with Chapter 1 released in theaters on May 15th, Chapter 2 on August 14th, and Chapter 3 in March 2027.
