Additional cast members have been announced for the TV anime "The Strongest Dregs Prince's Secret Struggle for the Throne," which is based on a light novel popular on the novel submission site "Shosetsuka ni Naro." It has been revealed that Atsushi Tamaru will play Erik Lakes Adler, Ryota Takeuchi Takeuchi will play Gordon Lakes Adler, Mitsuki Saiga will play Zandra Lakes Adler, and Kazuhiko Inoue will play Johannes Lakes Adler.
The first promotional video, which depicts Arnold, the "strongest but washed-up prince" who pretends to be incompetent, secretly working as the adventurer Silver to make his younger brother Leonard the next emperor, has been released on YouTube.
Tamaru, who plays Erik Lakes Adler, the second prince of the Adrasian Empire, commented, "I tried to portray him as intelligent and logical in his speech. Many of the brothers are ambitious and want to gain an advantage for themselves, but Erik has a calm demeanor that makes it clear that his advice is solely for the benefit of the Empire and His Majesty the Emperor. Also, since I often appeared with Zandra and Gordon, I was conscious of the difference in our perspectives."
Takeuchi, who plays Gordon Lakes Adler, the third prince of the Adrasia Empire, said, "Gordon is a 'warrior,' and among the princes he is hot-blooded and has a considerable presence, but he also has a calm mind. I tried to portray that aspect as well, giving weight to each and every word he says. I hope you will enjoy the conversations that the princes have!"
Saiga, who plays Zandra Lakes Adler, the second princess of the Adrasia Empire, commented, "She lives true to her own heart and is clearly not on the protagonist's side (laughs), so I hope I was able to portray that strong will and unwillingness of hers well."
Inoue, who plays Johannes Reeks Adler, the current emperor of the Adrasia Empire and Arnold's father, said, "He is noble and has an overwhelming presence. Yet, he also shows a cute side from time to time. I hope to bring out Johannes's charm by playing him flexibly."
"The Strongest Dried-Up Prince's Covert Struggle for the Throne" is a light novel written by Tamba and illustrated by Yuunagi. Arnold, the seventh prince of the powerful Ardrasia Empire, was known as the "dried-up prince" because his twin brother, Leonard, was so talented that he had sucked everything out of him. However, with the sudden death of the first prince, the struggle for the throne intensifies, and Arnold decides to get serious. On the public stage, he plays the role of an incompetent dried-up prince, but behind the scenes, he operates with overwhelming power as "Silver," one of only five SS-rank adventurers on the continent, and controls the struggle for the throne from the shadows. The light novel is published by Sneaker Bunko (KADOKAWA), and the manga adaptation is also popular. The series has sold over 1.8 million copies in total.
The series will be directed by Yuji Yanase, known for works such as "The Man Picked Up by the Gods," and produced by MAHO FILM, known for works such as "The Blue Wolves of Mibu." It will begin airing in July.
