A special video featuring director Jon Favreau and the cast discussing the appeal of the creatures appearing in "The Mandalorian and Glogu" (directed by Jon Favreau, released simultaneously in Japan and the US on May 22), the first theatrical release in the "Star Wars" series in seven years, including the gluttonous Glogu, was released on April 24.

Director Favreau said of the creatures, "For me, Star Wars was all about the creatures. It was a perfectly unified world."
This film features the globally popular mischievous and gluttonous Glogu, who plays a major role. He adventures alongside the protagonist, the lone bounty hunter Mandalorian, and despite his small childlike appearance, he has a strong presence that is sure to capture everyone's hearts. Pedro Pascal, who plays the Mandalorian, reflected on filming with Glogu, saying, "Talking about Glogu warms my heart. I feel a special bond with him," and revealed, "It's just like watching Star Wars as a child." Sigourney Weaver, who plays Colonel Ward, a former Rebel pilot who is now an officer in the New Republic hunting down the remnants of the Empire, is also smitten with Glogu, saying, "Anyone who sees that little face will fall in love with him."
◇ Incorporating traditional filming techniques and a worldview that inherited Lucas's spirit.
Puppets were primarily used to film Glogoo. Multiple staff members remotely manipulated the puppet's eyes, ears, and other features to make Glogoo appear as if he were truly present. This resulted in cute and endearing gestures and expressions. Director Favreau commented on the filming method, saying, "We incorporated various expressive methods while respecting tradition. These techniques create the feeling of being in a real world with real characters. This is the unique charm of Star Wars." He added that they have completed a new Star Wars with the traditional filming techniques and worldview of Star Wars, carrying on the spirit of George Lucas.
This film features not only Glogoo, but also many other fascinating creatures, such as the muscular Hutta Lotta the Hutt who puts the Mandalorian in dire straits, the Hutt Sisters and Hutt Brothers who are cousins of Jabba the Hutt, and Hugo, a humble shopkeeper who is also an informant well-versed in the underworld. I want to enjoy the world of "Star Wars" on the big screen in the theater along with these creatures.
◇Next year marks the 50th anniversary of its nationwide release in the US, and a new film starring Ryan Gosling is also planned.
The film "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Glogu" is set after the death of Darth Vader and the collapse of the Empire. In a lawless galaxy, the Mandalorian, a solitary bounty hunter who perfectly completes any job while adhering to strict rules under the motto "Our Way," takes on a job to deliver alive Glogu, also known as "The Child," a mischievous and gluttonous creature with immense Force powers, to his client. The Mandalorian initially hands over Glogu in exchange for a large reward, but feeling a strange connection, he breaks the rules and takes Glogu back. During their journey, they gradually develop a bond like that of a father and son. "He'll outlive me. I can't protect him forever..." The story follows these two bound by an unbreakable bond as they confront destiny to prevent a new war aimed at the resurgence of the Empire.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the US theatrical release of the first film in the series, "Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV)." It has also been announced that "Star Wars: Starfighter," starring Ryan Gosling, will be released in the US in May 2027.
