An exhibition of original artwork from Haruichi Furudate's popular volleyball manga "Haikyu!!" (Shueisha), titled "Haruichi Furudate Haikyu!! Exhibition: Challengers," will be held at the Mori Arts Center Gallery (Minato-ku, Tokyo) from October 30th to January 11th, 2027. This will be the third exhibition of original artwork from the series, and it will look back on the journey and growth of the characters, centering on the protagonists Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama, and the challenges they faced as they continued to strive for the "view from the top," with valuable manuscripts by Furudate and newly drawn illustrations.
The first key visual drawn by Furudate specifically for the exhibition has been released. It depicts Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima Kei, and Yamaguchi Tadashi as third-year students at Karasuno High School, based on a scene from Hinata and Kageyama's final spring high school volleyball game, which was mentioned in episode 370, "Challenger 2." Details regarding tickets and other information will be announced this summer.
"Haikyu!!" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from February 2012 to July 2020. It depicts the story of Shoyo Hinata, who suffered a crushing defeat in his last official match in middle school, and his reunion with Tobio Kageyama, the player from the opposing team, at Karasuno High School's volleyball club, where they aim for the top together. The cumulative circulation of the comic books, including digital versions, exceeds 75 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to September 2014, the second season from October 2015 to March 2016, the third season from October to December 2016, the first cour of the fourth season from January to April 2020, and the second cour from October to December of the same year. The first part of the new theatrical film series, "Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump," was released in February 2024 and was a huge hit, grossing over 20 billion yen worldwide. A sequel to "Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump," titled "Haikyu!! The Movie: VS the Little Giant," will be released in 2027. A special anime, "Haikyu!! Where the Monsters Go," will also be released in the same year.
