Ryota Miyadate of the popular group "Snow Man" recently attended a press conference at TV Asahi's headquarters (Minato-ku, Tokyo) for his starring drama "If I Fell in Love with a Terminator" (TV Asahi, Saturdays at 11 PM). He spoke about his enthusiasm for his first leading role in a drama series.
The drama is a sci-fi romantic comedy that depicts the love story between Tokizawa Eita (Miyadate), an android who comes from 400 years in the future to protect the heroine who is being targeted by someone, and Kamio Kurumi (Asami Usuda), a heroine in her late thirties. It will start airing on April 4th.
At the press conference, she appeared before fans who had been selected by lottery, along with her co-star Usuda, Kaito Matsukura and Hikari Ishida from "Travis Japan."
Miyadate smiled as he spoke about his feelings as the broadcast approaches, saying, "I'm filled with the desire to have everyone see it as soon as possible and 'captivate their hearts.'" Regarding his role as an android, he said, "I paid attention to every single movement of my joints, from the way I delivered my lines to blinking and walking, and I was very particular about how I walked."
Usuda, who plays the heroine, praised Miyadate's leadership, saying, "Miyadate must be incredibly busy and it must be really tough for him, but he always made the cast and crew, including me, laugh. It was a really fun set to work on. I thought Miyadate is a real charmer." Miyadate reflected on the filming, saying, "I think communication with people is very important, so I was always talking to someone."
Matsukura said he was nervous about acting alongside his senior from the agency, Miyadate, and added, "The character I play, Soejima, has to speak informally to Eita. I've been indebted to the 'Snow Man brothers' since I was a junior, so I was nervous about speaking informally to them, but Miyadate told me in between takes, 'You don't have to be so formal. You can come on to me more,' so I was able to speak informally smoothly," he said gratefully.
It was also revealed that Miyadate and Matsukura had brought in refreshments, and Usuda expressed her gratitude, saying, "We received delicious bento boxes, and everyone was delighted! Thank you for always providing such delicious food!"
