The final episode of the drama series " Sounds of Winter " (NTV, Wednesdays at 10 PM), starring actress Hana Sugisaki , aired on March 25th. In that episode, there was a scene in a coffee shop where Fumina (Sugisaki) confides all the feelings and worries she had been hiding to her boyfriend Yukio ( Ryo Narita), which garnered a lot of attention on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
In the final episode, on Yukio's birthday, at a coffee shop they've never visited before, Fumina reveals, one by one, her hidden worries and honest feelings. She talks about cheating, how she falls in love easily, how she's been unable to have a proper relationship with one person, and how she had someone she could talk to about her innermost feelings that she couldn't tell Yukio... Even though she knew that telling him everything wouldn't be good for him, she puts it into words and tells him that she wants to stay with him.
After finishing her sentence, Fumina murmured "Ah," took the finished light blue scarf out of her bag, and offered it to him saying, "Happy birthday." Seeing it, Yukio smiled and said, "That's the color. Hot spring blue," but instead of wrapping the scarf around Fumina, he said, "Fumina, let's break up."
Furthermore, Yukio reveals, "I kind of noticed. I knew something was wrong with Fumina, that she was suffering from something." When Yukio tells Fumina he wants to break up, she can't accept it and replies, "No." However, after hearing about Yukio's feelings and what happened with Sae (played by Shiori Kubo), she ultimately accepts his offer.
Then Fumina asked Yukio to cut her hair, and they spent their last moments together at the hair salon.
On social media, a long, six-minute take of Fumina and Yukio talking face-to-face in a coffee shop became a hot topic. Comments included: "They were so real, it was painful to watch," "Even though they were just talking, I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for a second," and "The breakup scene in the cafe followed by the hair-cutting scene, Hana Sugisaki Hana and Ryo Narita's acting was incredible..."
In addition, comments regarding the ending for the two included "Even though I knew it was coming, it's still heartbreaking..." and "I got so emotionally invested in the breakup scene that I feel depressed," as well as reactions to the final episode such as "It was a drama that made me think about a lot of things" and "I'm going to miss it so much."
