It has been revealed that Sho Sakurai will be the MC for Fuji TV's new Monday evening program, "Shinken Yugi! THE Battle SHOW" (Mondays 8-9 pm). This will be Sakurai's first regular appearance on a Fuji TV program in about six years, since "VS Arashi," and his first time as a regular MC on the network on his own.
This is the successor program to "Yobidoshi Sensei Tanaka," which ended this month. The show is a game variety program in which an idol actor team and a comedian variety team, each consisting of six members, will seriously compete in original games. Games that will test quick reflexes, concentration, and intelligence will be featured, such as "Ninja Slash Panic," in which contestants use swords to defeat randomly appearing enemies, and "Jochamoji-san ga Narada," in which contestants rearrange randomly arranged letters into the correct order.
As the MC, Sakurai will sometimes boost the morale of each team, sometimes put pressure on them, and bring out the emotions and personalities of the challengers. In addition, there is a program-original system called "Sakurai Chance" in which he will participate in the game as a helper for both teams.
Sakurai commented, "I'm excited to be crossing the Rainbow Bridge again. Based on the sense of gaming I've cultivated over the past 13 years on 'VS Arashi,' I will participate in the program's creation as the program's playing manager, sometimes as the presenter and sometimes as a player." He added, "We will deliver a space full of smiles that will make people think, 'I want to enter that world!' Please watch it with your whole family!"
"Serious Games! THE Battle SHOW" will air on Fuji TV every Monday at 8 PM, starting April 20th.
