The final ninth and final episode, "Okera-bi," of "Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures Rouge - Inheritance -" (Sundays at 10 PM), starring Moeka Hoshi as the heroine, will air on March 22nd on NHK BS and NHK BS Premium 4K.
◇Miyako initiates divorce for the sake of inheritance
"Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures: Rouge - Inheritance -" is set in Kurakuya Harunobu, one of Kyoto's leading long-established wagashi (Japanese confectionery) shops with a 240-year tradition, and depicts the issue of "succession." Raku (Hoshi), who grew up in Paris, is asked by her father, Suguru Mikami (Kanji Ishimaru), if she would like to take over the long-established wagashi shop. She moves into Kurakuya Harunobu, the family home of her stepmother, Miyako (Takako Takako Tokiwa), and begins living with Miyako's mother, Tsuruko (Ginpuncho). Miyako also returns from Paris as a "tutor," and the life of the three women begins. Through the eyes of Raku, a Paris-raised girl living in Kyoto, the issue of "succession" in various industries in Kyoto has been depicted.
In the final episode 9, Raku conveys his desire to inherit the business to Tsuruko, but Sanhako, feeling threatened by Tsuruko's illness, asks Takashi for a divorce so that she can inherit Kurakuya. Hiroomi (Rairin Sugita), who wants to study abroad, goes to Professor Shinonome's (Ken Watanabe) strange friend (Akira Shirai) for advice, but is only met with a harsh scolding. The adoption of his father's (Yasunori Danta) illegitimate child also begins to move forward, and Hiroomi's surroundings are in a state of urgency. How will the Kurakuya succession issue be resolved?

"Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures: Rouge - Inheritance -" is set in the long-established Japanese confectionery shop, Kurakuya Harunobu. It takes place eight years after Sawafuji Mihako, the "Kyoto person among Kyoto people" depicted in "Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures," which aired irregularly five times from January 2015 to May 2017, left for Paris. The story revolves around a new heroine, Mikami Raku, and Mihako, depicting the Kyoto people's struggles with the heavy burden of "inheritance."
The drama also features Kento Wakabayashi, the gardener played by Hayashi, and Yuko Miyasaka, the ceramic artist played by Yoshioka, both from "Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures: Blue - In Training," a series that aired from 2017 to 2022 focusing on young people in Kyoto. The worlds of the two dramas merge, making it enjoyable for fans of "Blue - In Training." We look forward to seeing what kind of ending awaits Kotaro, who is set to inherit the name of gardener Seibei Miyama, and Yuko, who, after separating from Kotaro, becomes pregnant with his child while training in England.
