The ninth episode of the drama series " Sounds of Winter " (NTV, Wednesdays at 10 PM), starring actress Hana Sugisaki , aired on March 18th. In that episode, a scene was shown in which Fumina's (Sugisaki) boyfriend, Yukio ( Ryo Narita), has dinner at home with Sae (Shiori Kubo), a colleague who works at the same hair salon, which garnered a lot of attention on social media.

In episode 9, Fumina, who has caught a cold, calls Yamada (Taro Uchibori) to her room and tells him that she wants to stop seeing him alone and that she wants to properly face her boyfriend. Yamada agrees and stays by Fumina's side until she falls asleep, but then Kotaro (Amane Okayama) comes in. Yamada and Kotaro bump into each other and mistakenly believe the other is Fumina's boyfriend, leading to a misunderstanding.
One day, as Fumina was knitting a scarf for Yukio, a package arrived. It was a chair that she and Yukio had each bought on Christmas Eve. At the same time, a chair arrived at Yukio's house as well. There, he found Sae...and that's how the story unfolded.
In this episode, there is a scene where Yukio and Sae eat a meal that Yukio has prepared. During the meal, Yukio explains that the chair that arrived was something he and Fumina had bought together, and reveals the reason why he didn't unpack it right away, saying, "That's why I thought it might be inappropriate to open it in front of Sae." When Sae asks him, "Are you really sure about this, Yukio? Won't you regret breaking up with Fumina?", Yukio replies, "No." When she asks him, "Do you still love her?", he answers, "Maybe...", and then adds, "But right now, I love Sae too." After that, he says to Sae, "Sae. Once I've properly broken up with her, once I've properly broken up with her, let's be together properly. So, could you wait a little longer?"
Social media was abuzz with comments such as, "What, they're breaking up!?", "Seriously, Yukio...", "Ryo Narita is still Ryo Narita", "What an unexpected turn of events", "Yukio must have been forcing himself to do it", "No way", "Are they all scumbags?", "Depressing development...", "Yukio was quite the scumbag himself...", and "Ryo Narita couldn't possibly end up being just a kind boyfriend..." The comments were circulating and generating a lot of buzz.
