It has been announced that Anne Nakamura will be appearing as the heroine in the drama series "Reborn: The Last Hero" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm), starring actor Issei Takahashi, which will start on April 14th. This will be the first time the two have appeared together.
The drama tells the story of a man's "rebirth" as he is reincarnated as a different person and starts his life over again. Mitsumasa Neo, the president of an IT company who has achieved great wealth and fame, is pushed down the stairs by someone and falls to his death...or so it seems. However, he travels back in time to 2012, 14 years earlier, and is "reincarnated" as Hideto Nomoto, the heir to a dry cleaning shop in a deserted shopping district. While searching for his murderer, he stands up against the upper class from the perspective of a commoner. Takahashi plays both Mitsumasa and Hideto.
Nakamura plays Ikeya Sarasa, the only daughter of a printing factory in the shopping district and Hideto's fiancée. She is at the peak of happiness after Hideto proposes to her, but an unexpected accident results in serious injuries to Hideto, who goes into cardiac arrest. Mitsumasa is then reincarnated and Hideto regains consciousness, but Sarasa remains unaware of his reincarnation and continues to support Hideto (who is actually Mitsumasa). In the world before Mitsumasa's reincarnation, she loses her father, who was driven to suicide by Mitsumasa.
Nakamura commented on Sarasa, "Sarasa is a character who is burdened with many things, including the death of her father. I hope to be able to enjoy this character while properly expressing those aspects of her."
"I think Issei will be performing a variety of different roles in this production, so I want to be able to keep up with his acting and respond to it. I'm really looking forward to working with him," he said.
Regarding the story being set in 2012, he said, "I think it will be difficult for the staff and actors to depict the past, but it will also feature music that was popular at the time, and that nostalgia may be one of the points that viewers will enjoy!"
