What was the scene that most captivated viewers in the 98th episode (aired February 18th) of the NHK morning drama "Bakeke" (General TV, Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM and other times), starring actress Takaishi Akari? When we looked at minute-by-minute trends in "attention level" (surveyed by REVISIO, Kanto region, preliminary figures), which indicates the percentage of viewers glued to the screen, the peak was 70.7% at 8:12 AM.
"Bakeke" is the 113th morning drama. The heroine, Toki Matsuno, and her husband, Lefkada Heaven, are based on Setsu Koizumi, the daughter of a fallen samurai from Matsue, and Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo), known for his works such as "Kwaidan." The drama boldly reconstructs the characters, changing some of the names of characters and organizations to create a fictionalized portrayal.
◇Attention level reaches 70% for the first time in a while
At Heaven's (Tommy Bastow) request, the Matsuno household has toast for breakfast. Episode 98 begins with Kuma (Toru Natsume) struggling every day to make enough toast for everyone by himself. Takeru (Rairin Sugita) gently comforts Kuma. Meanwhile, Toki (Takaishi) accidentally finds out that Heaven's writing isn't going well. Meanwhile, the grill they were using to make the toast disappears.
The "attention level," which indicates the percentage of viewers watching the TV who were paying close attention to the screen, rose from the middle to the end of the show, reaching its highest level of 70% for the first time since the 94th episode (broadcast on February 12).
◇The best scene was when Tsukasa nosuke kowtowed
The highest point of 70.7% was recorded at 8:12 AM, when Tsukasa (Takashi Okabe) knelt down and apologized in front of Heaven and the rest of the Matsuno family. Just before that, Fumi (Chizuru Ikewaki) had discovered that Tsukasa had been taking money from the family without permission and trading in the red bean market.
Heaven worries about whether he wants to go back to Matsue, and Tsukasasuke gives a shocking explanation: "I just can't get used to a relaxed lifestyle." Apparently, he wanted to get into debt again and feel more alive. Then Kuma comes along, asking if breakfast doesn't have toast, since they've run out of grills. Heaven, who insists on toast, asks Kuma, "Sagasu, Shimashitaka?" The scene ends around 8:12 AM.
After this, the net is stolen, and when Masaki (Hidaka Yukito) says that the culprit is "among us," the search for the culprit begins, but the interest in the story wanes as time goes on.
By the way, there is a scene between 8:04 and 8:06 a.m. where Tsukasasuke has a secret meeting with a suspicious man, Arakane Kyushuo (played by Shukugawa Atom), to find out what happened to the money he had deposited with him.
When Arakane shows him the large sum of money he has made, Tsukasasuke gets angry and says, "This isn't what I thought. How...how did it increase!" He then raises his voice and says, "I lost all my money, fell into huge debt, and hit rock bottom. And yet, I entrusted it to you with the hopes of living a fulfilling life, like the tenement house I lived in long ago. But I trusted your suspiciousness...and even went into debt, so it's strange!" Seeing Arakane's stunned state, it's an amusing scene that suggests that he may have been a legitimate businessman after all, but the interest rate was quite low at 57-60%.
◇The second most popular is flip books?
Instead of the absurd exchange between Tsukasa and Arakane, the second most popular moment was 8:08 AM, with 68.0% of viewers. This relatively high level of interest continued from the previous moment, 8:07 AM (66.8%). Around 8:07 AM, Toki throws the paper he used to blow his nose into the trash can in his study, but it doesn't go in. As he looks at the trash can again, he notices that Heaven's graffiti has been thrown out. "I don't know because I'm not educated. Is this literature?" Toki's repeated question to Joe is memorable.
Next, at 8:08 AM, the two notice a flip book written on a piece of paper on the desk. At first, Toki is delighted, saying, "Amazing!", but then he asks Takeru, "I don't know because I'm not educated. Is this literature?" This is the scene where Toki realizes that Heaven's writing isn't going well. The appearance of something as unexpected as a flip book may have increased the attention it receives.
The data used is REVISIO's proprietary indicator "Attention Level" (Kanto region, preliminary figures) published by the company that surveys TV program and commercial viewing habits in 2,000 households in the Kanto region and 600 households in the Kansai region. A dedicated device equipped with a human body recognition sensor constantly measures whether people are looking at the TV screen, and calculates the percentage of people in front of the TV who are paying close attention to the program.
