Actress Kyoko Yoshine appeared at the "Beavers Formation Event" for Disney & Pixar's latest animated film "Hoppers" (directed by Daniel Chung, released March 13th) held in Shibuya, Tokyo on February 17th. Yoshine, who voices the main character in the Japanese version, was excited from start to finish at the event, which took place in a "Beaver Forest" in the middle of Shibuya.
At the event, it was announced that actor Atsuro Watanabe would be providing the voice for Mayor Jerry, the human who threatens Beaver Forest. Watanabe appeared in a suit and revealed that he and his family were delighted to be taking on his first voice role in a Disney film, saying, "It was a dream come true, but I'm grateful to have been able to participate. It was a dream that I had secretly had in my heart, so I was really happy, and the whole house was celebrating."
Afterwards, Yoshine presented Watanabe with illustrations of each character drawn by Director Jung, to which Watanabe smiled and said, "My children are still young, so I think they'll be very happy."
"When I Became a Beaver" tells the story of Mabel, an animal-loving college student who learns that the forest she holds dear will be destroyed by a highway project. In order to protect this precious place, she uses secret technology to transform into the appearance of a beaver and devises a plan to protect the animals and the forest.
In the Japanese version, actress Kyoko Yoshine will play Mabel, Kote Shinya will play the beaver king King George, and Miyata Toshiya from the popular group Kis-My-Ft2 will voice Loaf, a "soothing beaver who is so laid back he often gets eaten." Kote and Miyata also appeared at the event.
