It has been announced that the TV anime series "Hidari-Hiki no Ellen," based on Kappei's manga that has also been adapted into a TV drama, will be broadcast on TV Tokyo from midnight on April 7th. Character visuals of Asakura Koichi, Yamagishi Ellen, and others have also been released.
The series is a ensemble of creators whose many heartfelt quotes have been a hot topic, and each character's image is accompanied by a quote. The protagonist, Koichi, who works hard as a designer at an advertising agency, says, "I want to become something!"; Yamagishi Ellen, a genius painter who is the polar opposite of Koichi, says, "Get serious, Koichi... I'll crush you no matter how many times you try!"; Kato Sayuri, a realist who has known Koichi and Ellen for a long time, says, "Do you really think that dream will come true?"; Kishi Akari, a self-centered yet incredibly talented charismatic model, says, "I finally found someone just like me, a piece of trash with no talent whatsoever."; and Kamiya Yusuke, a senior in the industry who Koichi admires for his exceptional sense and charisma, says, "Even on shitty days, a professional makes something good."
A pop-up shop commemorating the broadcast of the series will be open at Marui City Yokohama (Nishi-ku, Yokohama) from February 20th to 28th. Original drawings selected by the original author, Kappei, will be on display, and original goods such as T-shirts featuring newly drawn illustrations will be on sale.
It was also announced that a stage greeting for the advance screening of episodes 1 to 3 will be held at Kino Cinema Shinjuku (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) on March 15th. Chiba Shoya, who plays Asakura Koichi, Uchiyama Yumi, who plays Yamagishi Ellen, and Kappy will be in attendance.
"Hidari-Hiki no Ellen" is a popular online series that has racked up a total of approximately 250 million pageviews and a total of over 3.9 million copies of the comics in circulation. Set in the world of creatives, it depicts the struggles and discouragements of Koichi, an ordinary man who dreams of becoming something despite struggling with the limitations of his own talent, and Ellen, a solitary genius who is tormented by his overwhelming talent. Koichi, who chose the path of a designer, encounters seasoned creatives in the advertising industry, while Ellen, who has plunged into the global art scene, encounters extraordinary artists.
The anime will be directed by Toshimasa Suzuki, who has worked on "Fafner in the Azure: Heaven and Earth," and will be produced by Signal MD and Production IG.
