It has been announced that Kaito Miyachika from the popular group "Travis Japan" and actor Goro Kishitani will play fellow detectives of the protagonist, Makoto Tasukusari, played by Masaki Okada, in the TBS Friday drama "Tasukusari Brothers" (Fridays at 10pm) which will begin airing in April 2026. This will be Miyachika's first regular appearance in a TBS drama.
The drama follows the "Tasakuri Brothers," consisting of older brother Makoto Tasakuri (Okada), a detective, and his younger brother Minoru Tasakuri (Sometani Shota), a medical examiner, as they investigate the heinous crimes that occur every day while pursuing the true culprit behind the murder of their parents 31 years ago, which expired just two days before the statute of limitations was abolished. This is the latest work from producer Arai Junko, who has worked on hit crime suspense films such as "The Last Mile" and dramas such as "Unnatural," "MIU404," and "Saiai." The script is written by Watanabe Kei, who has worked on "Tumbling," and the director is Yamamoto Takeyoshi, who has worked on "Saiai."
Miyachika plays Ishizaka Naoki, a police officer in the same violent crimes division of the Blue Crime Police Department as Makoto, and is a mood-maker who brightens up the otherwise bleak team. Kishitani plays Koike Shunta, the section chief of the violent crimes division and Makoto's direct superior. He teams up with Ishizaka and leads the team with a calm and collected approach.
Actor Haruka Igawa will play Ashikaga Haruko, a mysterious woman with two faces as a pawnshop owner and an informant, and actress Ayami Nakajo will play her true partner detective, Miyato Shiori.
◇Comment from Kaito Miyachika
When I first read the script, I was so excited that I couldn't be satisfied with just the first or second episode, and it was a work that made me want to see the next one, and it was a script that honestly made me feel like, "I want to see this on screen." Ishizaka, the character I play, is a character with a "light-heartedness" and "sillyness" that comes with being young. The story is full of shocking events and serious scenes, so I hope that when my character appears, I can accentuate the work with a slightly different temperature, in a good way. This is my second time playing a detective, so I am making use of my past experience in the performance. Please be sure to watch all the episodes!
◇Comment from Goro Kishitani
When I first heard about the story, I thought, "What an interesting title." Furthermore, when I read Watanabe-san's script, the content was so wonderful that I was immediately drawn in and thought, "This is interesting!" The structure throughout the entire story is superb, and it's a very powerful script.
When we first met for the script reading, Okada-kun showed up with bedhead, and shortly after that Sometani-kun came in with even worse bedhead (laughs). The moment I saw them standing side by side, I was convinced they were the best brothers. The chemistry and balance between the two of them is outstanding. The work deals with a heavy theme, but thanks to the efforts of the Tasukuri brothers and the producers, the atmosphere on set was fantastic. It's a really interesting work, so be sure to check it out!
