It has been announced that actress Neru Nagahama will be appearing in the drama "Stove League," starring Kazuya Kamenashi, scheduled to air and stream in 2026. She will play the head of the programming department, who faces her team with a strong sense of responsibility and passion.
The drama is a remake of the human drama of the same name that was broadcast on South Korea's SBS in 2019 and became a social phenomenon. It tells the story of a general manager (GM) with no baseball experience and his struggle to rebuild a professional baseball team that has always been at the bottom of the league.
This series is a joint Japan-Korea project produced by Studio S, a drama studio under the Korean SBS Media Group, and NTT Docomo Studio & Live. Kamenashi, who is active in a wide range of fields including acting and sportscasting, plays Sakurazaki Jun, the new general manager of the professional baseball team "Dreams," who pushes forward bold reforms despite having no baseball experience. The series will have a total of eight episodes.
Nagahama plays Risa Makita, the head of the Dreams' programming department. She initially strongly opposes the bold team reforms of new GM Sakurazaki, who has been brought in to rebuild the Dreams. She eventually becomes his right-hand man, helping to push through the reforms.
