The TV Tokyo drama series "The Couple and the 16-Year-Old ~The Mad Neighbor~" (Thursdays at 12:30am), starring actress Rino Katase and Issei Mamehara of the global boy group "JO1," will begin airing on July 2nd. A 61-year-old woman who identifies as a "16-year-old beauty" moves in next door to a newlywed couple and falls in love at first sight. Knowing that the man is married, she decides to "take him if you love him" and starts all sorts of romantic schemes, setting off a romantic horror story filled with madness.
The original work is a manga of the same name by Pumpkin, which is currently being serialized independently on the manga app "Shonen Jump+." The shocking love and obsession that begins with falling in love at first sight with a married person has made it a noteworthy work that was selected by readers in "Jump Rookie!"'s "Serialization Competition Ranking."
In the drama, Katase plays Shiraishi Yoshiko, a 61-year-old woman who considers herself a 16-year-old beauty and falls in love with her younger, handsome neighbor, while Mamehara plays Nomura Hiro, a kind-hearted, handsome office worker who is instantly smitten by his crazy neighbor.
Other cast members include Yui Okada as Hiro's wife, Sae Nomura, a cheerful and energetic former hostess, and Meari Hayashi as the "ideal 16-year-old beautiful girl Shiraishi Yoshiko" created in the mind of 61-year-old Shiraishi Yoshiko. Kisei Hirano, Yui Kitamura, and Mayuko Nishiyama will also appear.
