A stage greeting event celebrating the screening of the sixth chapter, "The Blue Labyrinth," of " Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199, " the latest installment in the remake series of the popular anime " Space Battleship Yamato ," was held on June 28th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). Daisuke Ono, who plays Megumi Han, Makoto Furukawa, who plays Alphonse, Eriko Nakamura, who plays Mikage Kiryu, and director Harutoshi Fukui appeared at the event. Megumi Han Han's mother, Keiko Han, also appears in "Yamato 3199" as Mother Desarium. Megumi Han revealed the thoughts behind Sasha's line in the sixth chapter, "Family wouldn't say something like that."
Megumi said, "When I was chosen for the role of Sasha, I knew it was fate because Mother Desarium was my mother. Before the voice recording, there was a Sasha time where Mr. Fukui conveyed things that I couldn't tell the Yamato crew."
She said that she was able to say, "My family wouldn't say something like that," because of what her uncle (Susumu Kodai) had said. She felt that Kodai and Sasha's relationship had finally reached the same level.
Ono praised the exchange between Sasha and Mother Desarium in Chapter Six, saying, "It was amazing. I could sense the alluring quality in the end of Han-chan's voice, and then it turned into her mother's voice. It gave me chills."
When Ono asked Keiko if she had ever said, "My family never says things like that," Megumi replied with a smile, "It was the first time I said it in a line of dialogue. I was also saddened by the thought of having to say it. I never had a rebellious phase. The only rebellious thing I did was dye my hair."
"Yamato 3199" is a reinterpretation and re-imagining of "Be Forever Yamato" and "Space Battleship Yamato III." It consists of seven chapters, and the final chapter, Chapter Seven, "Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation," will be screened from October 30th.
