The lineup for Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi, Monday-Friday 1pm), which will air from June 29th to July 3rd, has been announced. On June 29th, the guest will be UTA, the son of actor Masahiro Motoki and a model; on June 30th, 93-year-old knitting artist Hiroko Ito; on July 1st, singer Akiko Yano; on July 2nd, jazz singer Chie Ayado; and on July 3rd, singer Ryudo Uzaki and his wife, lyricist Yoko Aki.
UTA makes her first appearance on the show. She will share stories about studying abroad at a prestigious Swiss school, where she went to enroll with her grandmother, Kirin Kiki, and words of wisdom from her father, Masahiro Motoki, on how to survive in the entertainment industry.
Ms. Ito began knitting at the age of four. At the age of 20, she won the prestigious Princess Takamatsu Award at the National Knitting Competition. Four years ago, her work was acquired by the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK. Now 93 years old, she also talks about the secret to her good health.
Yano is based in New York City. In his 60s, he dreamed of becoming an astronaut, and upon learning that he needed to be able to swim, he began intensive swimming training, despite his initial fear of the sport, and eventually learned to swim.
Ayato-san debuted at the age of 40 and has been in the industry for 28 years. Twelve years ago, her son was diagnosed with a rare disease that caused him to lose his sense of smell. Because it also affects his sense of taste, she has been making elaborate meals for him. She will be showcasing some of these dishes.
Mr. Uzaki and Ms. Aki are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. Both are in their 80s, and Ms. Aki reportedly started taking singing lessons when she was 80. The chorus group that Ms. Aki organizes will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year. They talk about the importance of the bonds that music brings.
