The first episode of the NHK premium drama "In the Town Where Forget-Me-Nots Bloom ~Azumino Medical Records~" (BS, Sundays at 10 PM), starring actress Riko Fukumoto, will air on June 28th. Mikoto (Fukumoto), a third-year nurse working in the internal medicine ward of Azusagawa Hospital in Azumino, Shinshu, wakes up one morning...
The drama is based on a medical novel by Sosuke Natsukawa, known for works such as "God's Medical Chart." Set in a hospital in Azumino, Shinshu, it depicts a year in the life of a third-year nurse and a new intern as they grapple with the realities of regional healthcare facing a serious aging population. Fukumoto plays Mikoto Tsukioka, a positive heroine who is in her third year working as a nurse at a hospital that supports regional healthcare in Azumino, and who diligently builds upon what she can do.
Other cast members in the drama include Shinki Sugo as Shotaro Katsura, a rookie intern whose trademark is his messy hair; Takashi Naito Naito as Joji Tanizaki, the hospital's only cardiologist; Mitsuru Fukikoshi as Seiichi Mishima, head of internal medicine and vice-director, and a gastroenterologist; Kaori Tsuchimura as Nao Otaki, the head nurse whom Mikoto relies on; and Yasuko Tomita as Satomi Tsukioka, Mikoto's cheerful mother who supports her daughter with her cooking. The music will be composed by Kotringo.
In the first episode, one morning, Mikoto is approached by intern Katsura Shōtarō (Sugao), who is wandering around with a vase and still has messy hair, and is asked for directions to a water source. There, Mikoto mistakes the name of the flowers in the vase, and Shōtarō makes fun of her, which annoys her a little. Meanwhile, Shōtarō, who has just transferred to the internal medicine residency, is introduced to the staff by his supervising physician Mishima (Fukikoshi), but is immediately subjected to a barrage of venomous remarks from senior physician Tanizaki (Naito).
