In the top 10 weekly viewership rankings for drama series in Japan (June 8-26), "The Hammer Teacher" took first place and "Fighting for Yourself" took second place, dominating the top two spots for two consecutive weeks.
"The Hammer Teacher" is a webtoon written by Choi Young-taek and illustrated by Han Ga-ram. When an overseer from a "special education institution" is dispatched to a school where order has collapsed, he begins to teach a ruthless, true education that can never be learned from textbooks. The drama began streaming on June 5th.
"Kenka Dokugaku" is a webtoon created by PTJ cartoon company, headed by manga artist T.Jun, known for works such as "Lookism," with illustrations by Kim Jeong-hyun. The story follows Kota Shimura, a high school student at the bottom of the school's social hierarchy, who decides to "livestream his fights online." The drama adaptation stars actor Ouji Suzuka and has garnered attention for its star-studded cast including Meru Nukumi, Noritaka Hamao, Kentaro Maeda Maeda, and Yusuke Iseya. It began streaming on June 11th.
