A collaborative visual featuring former Takarazuka top actresses Madoka Hoshikaze and Junka, who are serving as special supporters for the TV anime "Though I Am an Inept Villainess," based on the popular light novel by Satsuki Nakamura, has been released. They are dressed in original costumes created specifically for this project, embodying Huang Linglin and Zhu Huiyue.
"Though I Am an Inept Villainess" is a story of a royal harem "switch" and reversal of roles, in which two girls who are complete opposites—Huang Linglin, who is intelligent, beautiful, loved by all, and called "His Highness's Butterfly," and Zhu Huiyue, who has a strong inferiority complex and is hated by everyone for her despicable words and actions, are swapped.
The original work is a light novel published by Ichijinsha Novels (Ichijinsha), and a manga adaptation is currently being serialized in "Monthly Comic ZERO-SUM" (also published by Ichijinsha). It has gained popularity, winning the "Cmoa Everyone's Choice 2023 Electronic Comic Award" in the light novel category and being selected as No. 1 in the "BookLive Annual Ranking 2023" for female-oriented light novels. The series has sold over 4 million copies in total.
The anime is directed by Mitsue Yamazaki and produced by Doga Kobo. Manaka Iwami will voice Huang Manaka Iwami, and Natsumi Kawaida will voice Zhu Huiyue, among others. It will air on TV Tokyo and its affiliates starting July 12th at 11:45 PM.
