The character played by Hama, Mori Terumoto, is the head of the Mori clan, a Sengoku period daimyo family of Aki Province (present-day Hiroshima Prefecture), and the grandson of Mori Motonari. He opposes Nobunaga, who has invaded western Japan. He prioritizes the security of his territory above all else.
In episode 23, Nobunaga (Shun Oguri), who has been betrayed by Murashige Araki (Tortoise Shun Oguri), is looked down upon with the words, "If you ask me, being betrayed by a vassal is the height of folly. It happens because you rely on force and have not gained true trust. The one who is betrayed is the fool." However, towards the end, when Naoie Ukita (Yasuhito Hida) switches sides to the Oda, Nobunaga finds himself in a situation where he has no choice but to withdraw his troops...
This marks Hama's second appearance in a Taiga drama, his first being as Taira no Koremori in "The 13 Lords of the Shogun" (Asadora), four years ago. While he is still remembered for his role as Shoda Takichi, also known as "Half of the Man," in the same network's morning drama "Bakebake," which aired until March, Sentai fans will likely associate him with Lupin Blue/Yoimachi Touma from "Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger" (2018-2019). Social media reactions included comments such as "Mori Terumoto is Lupin Blue!", "Ohhh, Lupin Blue!", "Is this TERU Lupin Blue? I think so!", and "Lupin Blue is in it!"
Coincidentally, in "BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!）", Yuki Kosei, who played Patren 1 in "Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger," is appearing as Oda Nobutaka, and there have been comments before that Hama is "the second Lupinranger VS Patranger actor!", but now comments have been made again such as "Yuki Kosei is in it and Hama Shogo is in it, so it's practically Lupinranger VS Shogo Hama lol", "Patren 1 and Lupin Blue too", and "Thank you Toyotomi Brothers for having two actors from Lupinranger VS Patranger appear".
