A revival screening of "Rascal Does Not Dream Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl," was held on June 15th at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo) to commemorate the 7th anniversary of its release. Kaito Ishikawa , who plays Sakuta Azusagawa, Asami Seto, who plays Mai Sakurajima, and Inori Minase, who plays Shoko Makinohara, made an appearance. The revival screening of "Rascal Does Not Dream Does Not Dream of a Rascal Does Not Dream," the first theatrical anime film in the series, which was released on June 15, 2019, was held in anticipation of the series' conclusion with the theatrical anime film "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl," which will be released on October 16th. Ishikawa and the others spoke about their feelings regarding the series' conclusion.
On this day, the official trailer for "Rascal Does Not Dream Does Not Dream of Dear Friend" was unveiled, with Ishikawa commenting, "The title 'This is the Last Adolescent Syndrome' really hits home for me as someone who played the role," and Seto saying, "There are some connections to 'Yumemiru,' so I definitely want everyone to see it."
At the end of the trailer, Shoko also makes an appearance, and Minase says, "I'm so happy! There's a sense of security knowing that Shoko will do something, so I hope everyone will enjoy seeing Shoko on the screen again."
Ishikawa said, "Of course I've read the original work, but I was really confused and thought, 'What's going on!?' The film version has a different sense of realism, and you can enjoy the story in a fresh way. I think you'll cry a lot at the end," describing the highlights of the film.
Finally, Minase said, "The number seven years is very moving, and my feeling that I have completed the role hasn't changed. I'm happy to have the opportunity to play the role again," and Seto shared his thoughts, saying, "After finishing the recording for 'Dear Friend,' I thought to myself, 'Sakuta, you did a great job!'"
Ishikawa said enthusiastically, "I can finally say that Shoko will be in it. I'm so happy! I'm deeply moved. I think it will be the culmination of 'Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.' I hope everyone will go to the theater to see how it ends."
The "Rascal Does Not Dream" series is a light novel written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Keiji Mizoguchi, with "adolescent syndrome," a condition that occurs during adolescence, as its key theme. The original novels have sold over 3 million copies in total.
The TV anime "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai" aired from October to December 2018. The theatrical anime "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl" was released on June 15, 2019, followed by "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out" on June 23, 2023, and "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid" on December 1st of the same year.
