The long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), hosted by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, airing at 1 PM on June 15th, will feature footage of actress Tamao Nakamura, who passed away on June 9th at the age of 86 due to pneumonia, from her past appearances on the show.
Tamao's father was the Kabuki actor Nakamura Ganjiro II. In 1953, while still a junior high school student, she made her film debut in "Keiko and Yukie." With her charming presence and distinctive voice, she appeared in many films playing young women. In 1962, she married actor Katsu Shintaro, with whom she had co-starred in films such as "Shiranui Kengyo" (1960). In 1963, she won the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 18th Mainichi Film Awards for "Echizen Take Ningyo."
He provided both financial and emotional support to the production company founded by Katsu during times of financial crisis. From the mid-1980s onward, he was active mainly in television. From the 1990s onward, he also appeared in variety shows and gained popularity for his cheerful personality.
