British singer Sarah Brightman appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on June 12th. Brightman, who is a big fan of Japan, talked about her favorite Japanese food and anime.
Brightman continues to captivate the world with numerous hit songs, including "Time to Say Goodbye." He has been fascinated by Japan ever since his first visit in his twenties.
When Tetsuko asked her what her favorite Japanese food was, she smiled and said, "It's hard to answer because they're all delicious, but I really like grated yam, sushi, and noodles (like ramen). I feel really happy when I eat them in Japan."
Brightman, who enjoys walking around Japanese cities and has even visited hot springs, said, "What I like about Japan is how it blends traditional and modern elements."
Brightman covered "The Path of the Wind," a song from the soundtrack of Studio Ghibli's animated film "My Neighbor Totoro." "I really love Ghibli's works. I like how they have a uniquely Japanese atmosphere, which is different from Western music. Singing in Japanese was difficult, but I often come to Japan and I also had a coach teach me, so I got the hang of it fairly quickly," she recalled.
