The sixth episode of the TBS Friday drama "Takusari Brothers," starring actor Masaki Okada and also featuring Shota Sometani, aired on May 22nd. It was revealed that Karu (Yumi Mitani), the mother of Koki Mogi (Takashi Yamanaka), the owner of the local Chinese restaurant "Mocchan," is doing all the housework at Fumi Karashima's (Atsuko Sendo) house, which has fueled speculation among viewers.
◇The following contains spoilers.
One day, Koki went to the hospital to pick up Fumi's husband, Sadao (played by Hidekazu Nagae), from work and dropped him off at the Karashima house. Fumi had already returned home.
Then Karu appeared with a tray of coffee in his hand and, surprised to see Koki, asked, "You're here?" "I thought I'd come along since I was in the area," Koki replied. Hearing this exchange between mother and son, Fumi gently said, "Karu, you don't have to come today," but Karu bowed his head and said, "I'll just go clean the bathroom," before leaving the living room.
"Mocchan, did you hear anything?" Fumi asked casually as she poured the coffee that Karu had brewed into a cup. When Koki replied that he hadn't spoken to the doctor (at the hospital), Fumi said, "Not that, but those brothers," and brought up the topic of Makoto (Okada) and Minoru (Someya).
Fumi, referring to the notebook belonging to Tsuda (Kazuki Iio) that Makoto and Minoru had been talking about earlier, muttered annoyedly, "It's troublesome. If strange rumors start, it will affect our work." Then she placed her hand on Koki's shoulder and whispered something in his ear. After looking into Koki's face, she was shown holding out a paper bag and saying, "That's right. Take this. Karu, you like sweets, don't you?"
On social media, comments included: "Fumi is so scary," "She's made Karu her housekeeper, so it feels like she has something on him," "It's scary how Fumi seems to be manipulating Mocchan," "It's scary because I don't understand what Fumi said," "I wonder if Mocchan was hired by Fumi to keep an eye on the brothers...and their mom is a hostage," and "Both Mocchan and Fumi seem suspicious."
The drama follows Detective Makoto and Medical Examiner Minoru as they investigate heinous crimes that occur daily and pursue the true culprit in the murder of their parents, a case that expired just two days before the statute of limitations was abolished. This is the latest work from producer Junko Arai, who has worked on hit crime suspense works such as the film "Last Mile" and the dramas "Unnatural," "MIU404," and "Saiai."
