The long-running variety show "Shinkon-san Irasshai!" (Welcome, Newlyweds!), hosted by Takashi Fujii and Sakura Inoue (ABC TV/TV Asahi network, Sundays at 12:55 PM), will feature the same couple for two consecutive weeks on May 31st and June 7th—a first in the show's 55-year history.
The couple featured in this episode are Tamon Takemata (28), a navigator living in Tokyo, and Mio Takemata (28), an IT salesperson. The story of how the couple unraveled a 27-year-long fateful plot twist was so dramatic that it couldn't be contained within the approximately 30-minute time slot, resulting in an unprecedented two-part documentary.
Osaka, 27 years ago. The two were born in the same hospital, at almost the same time, but they had a miraculous first meeting shortly after birth. When the actual footage, filmed by the husband's father at the time, was shown in the studio, the scene was so perfect that it caused great excitement in the studio.
Due to her husband's family moving, they lost contact during their childhood, and their parents also cut off contact, so they lived their lives as complete strangers. Two years ago, they miraculously reunited through a dating app they both registered for when they were considering marriage, but at this point, neither of them knew about their first meeting when they were babies.
When they matched, they were drawn to each other's impressive profiles, but on the way home from their first date, in the middle of Tokyo Station, her husband made an unexpectedly bold approach. Their relationship began after he made a fierce advance that was unimaginable from his gentle appearance, but even then, they didn't know what they had in common. Then, when her husband introduced her to his parents, they started talking about the hospital where she was born, and together with her parents' memories, their 27 years together began to unravel.
As surprising facts were revealed one after another, MC Fujii announced, "Someone who has been deeply involved in your lives is actually in the audience," and then a person who was present at the moment of your birth 29 years ago appeared.
