A new one-shot manga by Masami Yuki, titled "Mobile Police Patlabor Mobile Police Patlabor 2026," has been released on the web manga site "BICCOMI" (Shogakukan). This is the first new work in approximately 32 years since the end of the series in 1994, and it also garnered attention when it was published in the May 18th issue of the manga magazine "Weekly Big Comic Spirits" (Shogakukan). It will be available on "BICCOMI" for a limited time until June 7th.
"Mobile Police Patlabor" is a multimedia project created by the legendary creative group "HEADGEAR," consisting of Masami Yuki, Yutaka Izubuchi, Kazunori Ito, Akemi Takada, and Mamoru Oshii.
It began in 1988 with six OVAs (Original Video Animations) called "Early Days," and has since expanded into manga by Yuuki, television anime, theatrical anime films, novels, audio dramas, and games. Yuuki's manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" from 1988 to 1994.
The new anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor EZY," has also been generating buzz. The new series consists of three chapters and eight episodes in total, with the first chapter released in theaters on May 15th. The second chapter will be released on August 14th, and the third chapter in March 2027. Issue 25 of "Spirits" magazine also features a special article on the new series, "EZY."
