NHK's special drama "Guilty, the AI Announced," starring actress Kyoko Yoshine, will air on NHK BS on May 16th at 9 PM. In this near-future legal mystery that questions the relationship between AI and humans, Yoshine plays Madoka Takatoji, a judge who is put to trial in a murder case after an AI judge is introduced on a trial basis.
"Guilty, the AI Announced" is based on the novel of the same name by Shichiri Nakayama. Jun Kunimura plays Katsuhiro Hiba, a veteran judge nearing retirement, who has a strict personality and has lived a long and proud career as a judge. Asami Usuda plays Hiromi Sakiyama, a judge who serves alongside Madoka and Hiba in a murder trial. Jun Fubuki plays Madoka's grandmother, Jun Fubuki, one of the pioneers of female judges, who has been involved in many trials and is known as a great judge.
Rookie judge Madoka Takatoji (Yoshine) is overwhelmed with her enormous workload. One day, an AI judge system is introduced on a trial basis. Madoka becomes increasingly wary of the AI, which is expected to be a valuable tool for improving work efficiency. Meanwhile, veteran judge Katsuhiro Hiba (Kunimura), who is also handling the trial of a son who killed his father, is astonished when he sees the judgment written by the AI and quickly becomes devoted to it.
En strives to uncover the truth of the incident herself and arrive at a different conclusion than the AI. What will become of the truth...? The drama premiered on BS Premium 4K on March 28th.
