Episode 7, "A New Vessel," of the TV anime "MAO," based on the latest work by Rumiko Takahashi , known for manga such as " Urusei Yatsura ," "Ranma 1/2," and "Inuyasha," will be broadcast on NHK General on May 16th at 11:45 PM.
In the Taisho era, a younger version of Nanaka from eight years prior suddenly appears before her. The cat demon grabs the young Nanaka and flies away through the gates of the Gogyo Shopping Street into the Reiwa era. In order to protect the young Nanaka, Mao, in his beast form, sends a guardian shikigami to the present day, but then faints.
The original manga has been serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) since May 2019. Set in the Taisho era, it's a dark fantasy x time-slip mystery about Mao, an onmyoji (exorcist) who has lived for 900 years, who meets Kiyoha Nanaka, a girl who has wandered in from the Reiwa era, and together they confront a chain of curses. The anime is directed by Teruo Sato and produced by Sunrise. It will be broadcast for two consecutive seasons.
