The TV anime "Tetsunabe no Jan!", based on the manga by Shinji Saijo serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion" (Akita Shoten), will begin airing on TV Tokyo every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. starting July 5th. The main PV, "Front Version," featuring the protagonist Jean, Selene Yang, and other new characters, has been released. The "Back Version" of the PV will be released at a later date. It was also announced that the seven-member dance vocal group "Genin wa Jibun ni Aru." will be performing the opening theme song, "Kaen."
Amada, who plays Ohtani Nichido, a popular character often called the "hidden heroine," a food critic with the best palate and the worst personality, earning him the nickname "the man with the tongue of God," commented: "The winner is strong! "Tetsunabe no Jan!" is a manga depicting an unprecedented cooking battle. The protagonist, Jan, believes that victory is all about cooking, and anything goes. The heroine, Kiriko, is pure and innocent, and her heart is all about cooking. Together they unleash magical, deadly weapons (cooking). It was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Champion" from 1995 to 2000. The series has sold over 10 million copies in total.
This marks the first time the series has been adapted into an anime. It will be directed by Ei Aoki, known for his work on numerous popular titles such as "Fate / Zero," " Aldnoah.Zero ," and "The Garden of Sinners: The Movie," and produced by TROYCA, known for "Aldnoah.Zero," "Overtake!," and "ATRI." Kikunosuke Toya will voice the protagonist, Jean Ikumi Hasegawa, while Ikumi Hasegawa will play the heroine, Kiriko Gobancho, and Kohei Amasaki will play Kohei Amasaki, Jean's only confidant. Kenjiro Tsuda will provide the narration.
