The synopsis and still images for episode 6 of the Fuji TV "Monday Getsuku " drama "Canned Mackerel Goes to Space," starring actor Takumi Kitamura , which will air on May 18th, have been released.
Shunichi Asano (played by Kitamura), a teacher at Wakasa Fisheries High School, was having trouble with third-year student Yusuke Ihata (played by Tsubasa Araki). Ihata had been repeatedly apprehended by the police and was also found to be in possession of cigarettes.
To Asano's concern, Ihata shows a dismissive attitude, saying, "I'm fine with dropping out. It's going to be closed down anyway." Ihata had enrolled in the school with the dream of "sending canned mackerel into space" with Saeki Kento (Ichihara Shogo). However, the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred a year ago led to him being separated from his mother and living alone, and with the school's closure plans progressing, he also lost the opportunity to develop space food.
Not only Ihata, but other students were also talking about closing the school, leaving Asano with a feeling of helplessness.
Meanwhile, Saeki asks Asano if the canned mackerel from space could be used as emergency food. Seeing Saeki working on the project alone without giving up, Ihata can no longer contain his frustration.
At that time, Makoto Kijima ( Ryunosuke Kamiki), who was developing a draft of the "Japanese Space Food Certification Standards," was racking his brain because he hadn't received any feedback on the space food he had sent to NASA.
The drama is an original coming-of-age story based on the true story of students at a fisheries high school in Fukui Prefecture who challenged themselves to achieve their big dream of "developing space food."
