The program "Platinum Family: A Glimpse into the Lives of Glamorous Families" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 7 PM *excluding some regions) introduces the lifestyles of "glamorous families." The May 12th broadcast will feature the mansion of a popular local female CEO.
This episode features Hatsue Iwamoto, who lives in a luxurious pink castle-like mansion in Fukuoka Prefecture. Ms. Iwamoto is the CEO of a mail-order company that sells collagen jelly and other products, which have been the top-selling product in Japan for 16 consecutive years. She is a popular local celebrity who appears in commercials for her company's products and is a regular commentator on information programs.
Iwamoto's home is decorated with pink throughout, and she explains that she wants to "brighten people's lives through their living space and appearance, as I want to give them energy."
The kitchen is a place where she puts in a lot of thought; to avoid wasting time moving between rooms, she has a makeup counter attached to the kitchen so she can do her makeup or work in between cooking. The washing machine and dryer are also placed right next to it, demonstrating a thorough commitment to efficient workflow. She makes breakfast for her family in the mornings before going to work, and reveals that she deliberately does all the housework herself, saying, "It makes me feel alive when I do it myself."
At the company run by Ms. Iwamoto, creating a comfortable working environment for women has been a priority for over 30 years. She implements female-centric management practices, such as setting up an in-house daycare center, creating a workplace where employees can work alongside their children, and providing a free employee cafeteria. Ms. Iwamoto's unique philosophy, consistent in both her personal and professional life, is revealed one after another.
