"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle bizarre requests and worries submitted by viewers. On May 8th, Detective Takanori Takeyama investigated "Deceased dog's poop in a sewing box!?" Special Director Takanori Nishikawa, Assistant Director Yasushi Ishida, and Secretary Saori Masuda appeared on the show.
The request came from a 51-year-old woman in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Five months ago, she lost her beloved dog, Coco. Overwhelmed with grief, she disposed of everything that could retain Coco's scent just two days after her death. But now, five months later, she longs to smell Coco's scent. She can't stop regretting not keeping something that smelled like Coco, such as her collar or clothes.
Then, the other day, I happened to open my sewing box and, for some reason, found some dried poop from Coco. Normally, I would just throw it away, but I couldn't bring myself to throw it away because I thought it might be the last thing that reminded me of Coco, so the poop remained in the sewing box.
Now I'm not sure if it's okay to keep this as a memento, or if my desire to keep the poop is normal. I want a clear answer: should I keep this poop, or should I get rid of it completely?
Detective Takeyama, meeting with the client and her second daughter, deeply empathizes with their grief over the loss of their 15-year-old dog, Coco, as he himself owns a senior dog. The client has disposed of everything related to her beloved dog, and is worried that "the smell is gradually fading away." Apparently, about two years ago, Coco had defecated in her sewing box, and her third daughter discovered it. At this point, the client suddenly reveals that she has another request, and the situation takes a dramatic turn. What is this shocking request that even Takeyama refuses to accept? A slightly strange but moving story that brought tears to the eyes of Special Director Nishikawa and Secretary Masuda.
