The second episode of the TBS Sunday drama "GIFT," starring actor Shinichi Tsutsumi, aired on April 19th. The intense battle between Miyashita Ryo (Yuki Yamada), the ace player of the wheelchair rugby team "Blaze Bulls," and Asatani Keijiro (Kyoya Honda), a young man with bad behavior, left a strong impression on viewers.
◇The following contains spoilers.
Go Tetsu (played by Tsutsumi), who had been appointed as the assistant coach of the "Blaze Bulls," told Ryo to step down from his position as the team's ace. He then brought Keijiro, the new "ace candidate," to the practice field and had Ryo play wheelchair rugby in a 1-on-1 match, with the rule that Keijiro would win if he scored even one point.
The vast difference in skill meant the gap between Keijiro and Ryo only widened. Despite this, Keijiro continued to fight on, but Ryo told him, "Hey, blond guy, just give up." Trying to catch his breath, Keijiro declared with burning determination, "I'm definitely going to score some points!"
The result was a victory for Ryo. Filled with frustration, Keijiro looked Ryo straight in the eye and declared, "I won't lose!" The scene then shows him throwing the ball at Ryo.
Social media was buzzing with comments like, "Episode 2 was so intense! I love how they just get serious about what's in front of them and clash head-on," "Yuki Yamada and Kyohei Honda both have great expressions," "I can't get enough of it," "I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of relationship the two of them will have from now on...!", and "The heated battle between Ryo and Keijiro is so exciting."
The drama follows Wu Tetsuya, a genius astrophysicist played by Tsutsumi, as he solves difficult problems facing the underdog team "Blaze Bulls" from his unique perspective. It's a story of redemption where the team, friends, and family reconnect.
