A new trailer for "Dragon Ball Super: Beerus," the anime series based on the popular manga by the late Akira Toriyama, has been released. The trailer depicts a cosmic-scale battle between Son Goku and the God of Destruction Beerus, and at the end, Frieza, who awaits his resurrection, also makes an appearance.
"Dragon Ball Super Beerus" will be an "enhanced version" of "Dragon Ball Super." "Enhanced" means "to raise, strengthen, or improve." It will feature a large number of new cuts, revised cuts, reshoots of all cuts, and new dubbing including added background music and sound effects, and a reconstructed storyline. It will air on Fuji TV starting in the fall of 2026.
It was unveiled on April 19th (April 20th Japan time) at the "DRAGON BALL SUPER SPECIAL PANEL" of the "Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026" event currently being held in Los Angeles, USA.
The event also featured surprise video messages from Masako Masako Nozawa, the voice of Son Goku; Koichi Yamadera, the voice of Beerus the God of Destruction; Jason Douglas, the English dubbing voice actor for Beerus the God of Destruction; and Akio Ino, the executive producer of the "Dragon Ball" series.
Yamadera commented, "I was happy that Beerus's name was in the title," and Jason said, "I'm really looking forward to seeing Beerus in action!"
Ino commented on Beerus, saying, "Above all, he possesses immense power and is a being that inspires a sense of awe towards a god whose actions are unpredictable. 'Dragon Ball Super' is a series that begins with the existence of this God of Destruction, Beerus, so in this film, the entire production team is focusing on ensuring that everyone can fully enjoy Beerus's presence and his appeal using the latest visual technology."
Nozawa said, "The thrilling battle between Goku and Beerus was amazing! It was so cool! And then at the end... Frieza appeared!"
The original "Dragon Ball" manga was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1984 to 1995, and the TV anime started in 1986. The cumulative circulation of the comics worldwide exceeds 260 million copies.
In recent years, the "Dragon Ball Super" series, based on an original concept by Akira Toriyama, aired from 2015 to 2018, and the theatrical anime films "Dragon Ball Super: Broly" (2018) and "Dragon Ball Super: Superheroes" (2022) were released, both becoming hits. The franchise has continued to be loved worldwide for over 40 years. The completely new TV anime "Dragon Ball DAIMA" aired from October 2024 to February 2025, which also generated buzz. It has also been announced that a new anime series, "Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol," is in production.
