Hiroshi Tanahashi, president of New Japan Pro-Wrestling, who retired from professional wrestling in January, will serve as a commentator on the evening news program "news Okaeri" (ABC TV, Monday-Friday 3:40 PM). He will appear as a regular commentator on even-numbered Fridays starting April 10th.
Tanahashi joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling in 1999 after competing in student wrestling. He supported the organization through a period of decline due to the departure of key wrestlers, and built its current success. From December 2023, he took on the role of president, steering the organization, and ended his active wrestling career at the Tokyo Dome event on January 4, 2026.
Furthermore, Tanahashi is an intellectual with a degree from Ritsumeikan University's Faculty of Law, and also possesses the skills of a business executive as a company president. He expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "By engaging with the news and broadening my knowledge, I believe I can make great use of it in steering New Japan Pro-Wrestling in the future."
