The NTV drama series "Tsukiyo Koro - The Answer Lies in Masterpieces -" (Wednesdays at 10 PM), starring Haru and Kumiko Aso, will begin airing on April 8th. The drama is based on the novel of the same name by mystery writer Rikako Akiyoshi, known for works such as "Yuki no Hana" and "Zettai Seigi," and is a thrilling literary road mystery about an unusual duo who embark on a journey to reclaim their lives. Haru plays Luna Nomiya, a bar owner who is a literature enthusiast, while Aso plays Ryoko Sawatsuji, a housewife neglected by her workaholic husband and rebellious child.
Luna and Ryoko, who meet by chance, travel to Osaka, where a murder occurs. Luna uses her knowledge of literature, including Natsume Soseki, Dazai Osamu, Edogawa Ranpo, and Tanizaki Junichiro, to unravel the truth behind the crime. The script is written by Shimizu Yukako, known for the drama "Reversal Orchestra" and the film "Arrogance and Kindness," while the direction is handled by Marutani Shunpei, known for the dramas "119 Emergency Call" and "Complete Adultery," and Akashi Hiroto, known for "Ikinarikon."
Shuntaro Yanagi will play Tetsuya Tamura, a detective in the Osaka Prefectural Police Investigation Division 1; Ryuto Sakuma of the popular junior group "ACEes"Ryuto Sakuma, Ryoko's college sweetheart; Naoki Tanaka will play Kikio Sawatsuji, Ryoko's husband; and Kiyohiko Shibukawa will play Hiroki Kominato, Tamura's immediate senior.
In the first episode, on her 45th birthday, Ryoko is tailing her husband, Kikuo, in Ginza at night when she meets Luna Nomiya, the owner of a bar. Luna is a serious literature nerd and, with her keen observational skills, deciphers Ryoko's background one by one, even seeing through the lingering feelings Ryoko had kept hidden deep in her heart for her college sweetheart, Kazuto. Ryoko is swept away by Luna's forceful invitation and heads to Osaka to search for Kazuto.
However, what awaited her on her journey was the discovery of the bodies of a man and a woman embracing at Tsuyuten Shrine, the setting of Chikamatsu Monzaemon's "Sonezaki Shinju" (The Love Suicides at Sonezaki). Witnessing the wife, Aiko (Nozomi Sasaki), lamenting her husband's betrayal and death, Luna puts her literary knowledge to full use to deduce the truth from Detectives Tamura and Kominato, uncovering the cruel truth hidden behind the double suicide case...
