This project is a major collaboration between TBS, U-NEXT, and THE SEVEN, the company behind "Alice in Borderlands." It's a live-action adaptation of "Chiruran: Shinsengumi Shinsengumi" (Zenon Comics), with the original story by Shinya Umemura and manga by Eiji Hashimoto. The story follows Toshizo Hijikata, a hot-headed Hijikata Toshizo who only pursues his own "strongest" status, as he meets Isami Kondo, a man of great character, and together with other strong personalities like Okita Soji and Hajime Saito, they build the Shinsengumi...
The main character, Toshizo Hijikata Toshizo by Yamada, Isami Yamanami Keisuke by Nobuyuki Suzuki , Okita Soji Kanata Hosoda, Soji Okita by Kanata Hosoda, Izō Okada, a Tosa samurai known as "Izō the Assassin," by Kento Nakajima, and the Aizu lord, Katamori Matsudaira, will be played by Jun Matsumoto.
In 1863, a group of ronin (masterless samurai) was formed to guard the 14th Shogun, Tokugawa Iemochi, during his visit to Kyoto. Hijikata and the other members of the Shieikan dojo also joined this group.
Amidst a gathering of master swordsmen, Serizawa arrived in flamboyant attire, a cigarette in his mouth, and angered a certain ronin. As the ronin pointed his sword at him, Serizawa said with great confidence, "Yes! That's good. Unwavering violence." Immediately afterward, without hesitation, he cut off the ronin's arm and declared, "Good to see you're full of energy."
Later, Kiyokawa Hachiro, who advocated for reverence for the emperor and expulsion of foreigners, asked Serizawa, "Don't you want to change the times?" but Serizawa refused, saying, "It doesn't appeal to me." He laughed and added, "I can't go back to Edo without even having slept with a Kyoto woman."
As Kiyokawa showed his anger, Serizawa urged him to draw his sword and asked with a dignified attitude, "Let's go all the way, shall we?" Taken aback by Serizawa's madness, Kiyokawa could only say, "Get out."
Amidst all this, Hijikata stepped forward and asked Serizawa, "Who the hell are you?" When Hijikata loudly introduced himself, Serizawa laughed in high spirits, saying, "Well, this is interesting!" and then walked away, saying, "I'm Serizawa Kamo. My favorite word is violence. Nice to meet you, see you later."
