The 13th episode of the NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS （Toyotomi Brothers!）" (NHK General, Sundays at 8pm, etc.), starring actor Taiga Nakano, aired on April 5th, and the exchange between Akechi Mitsuhide (Jun Kaname) and Nobunaga (Shun Oguri) attracted the attention of viewers.
In episode 13, following Nobunaga's orders, Koichiro (Nakano) is to marry Kei (Tetsushi Tanaka), the daughter of Morinari (Riho Yoshioka).
Fujikichiro (Sosuke Ikematsu) is pleased, but Kei has a bad reputation and, for a certain reason, hates the Oda family. Meanwhile, Nobunaga decides to go to war with the Asakura clan of Echizen. He meets with Nagamasa (Ayumu Nakajima), whose son is being held hostage by the Asakura, and tells him that he doesn't need to go to battle and should focus on defending the rear. However, once the battle begins, Nagamasa is pressured by his father, Hisamasa (Takaaki Enoki), to side with the Asakura...and so the story unfolds.
In the same episode, Mitsuhide visits Nobunaga, who tells him that he overheard Shogun Yoshiaki (played by Onoe Ukon) petitioning the imperial court to change the era name, and asks Mitsuhide if that is true.
When asked, Mitsuhide explained, "I thought it would be good to restore the shogunate to its former authoritative form and, hoping that it would last as long as a turtle, call it 'Genki' (元亀)." However, Nobunaga flatly rejected the idea, saying, "I don't like it." He then ordered, "Choose something else."
Mitsuhide's expression changed involuntarily. But Nobunaga asked what was surprising him, saying, "What's the matter?" and then, looking down at him, confirmed again, "You came to hear my opinion, didn't you? Surely you haven't just come to inform me of a decision you made on your own without consulting me at all, have you?"
Mitsuhide, flustered, tried to gain understanding by saying, "No, I certainly didn't mean it that way... However, the Genki era chosen by the Shogun (Yoshiaki) was also praised by the Imperial Court." But Nobunaga intimidatingly emphasized, "I do not like it."
On social media, people speculated about what Mitsuhide might be thinking when he later caused the Honnoji Incident, with comments such as, "The flags are rising one after another," "There are so many flags it's scary," "It looks like Honnoji is about to burn down," "Mitsuhide's hatred for Nobunaga is building up," "Mitsuhide's gauge for killing Nobunaga has gone up," "The flags are rising one after another," "There are so many flags it's scary," "Mitsuhide's hatred for Nobunaga is only growing," and "His rebellion points are piling up, even though there are still about 12 years until the Honnoji Incident."
