The second main visual for "Sayonara Lala," an original TV anime commemorating the 15th anniversary of Kinema Citrus, has been released. It depicts three characters overlooking Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture. The characters are Lala, a mermaid princess who has been resurrected in modern-day Shiga after 200 years; Mari Otsu, a female high school boxer; and Luca, a boy Lala meets in Shiga. The caption reads, "This world isn't so bad, is it?" It was also announced that the series will be collaborating with the popular Vtuber "PokoPii."
A portion of the first episode of "Sayonara Lala," which was shown on stage at the "AnimeJapan 2026" event currently being held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo), has been specially released on KADOKAWAAnime's official YouTube channel. It will be available for a limited time until May 6th.
The anime is based on the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid," in which Princess Lala is resurrected 200 years later in modern-day Lake Biwa. Directed by Takashi Koide, a native of Shiga Prefecture, in his directorial debut, with Anna Kawahara handling series composition, Shiori Tani designing the characters, and Yuma Yamaguchi composing the music. It will begin airing in July.
