It has been announced that "Candy Caries," a stop-motion animation created by director Tomoki Misato, known for the anime "Pui Pui Molcar," and WIT STUDIO, has been selected for the TV Films section of the official competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, which will be held in Annecy, France in June, and will be officially screened.
The Annecy International Animation Film Festival was established in 1960 when the animation section of the Cannes International Film Festival became independent. It is the world's longest-running and largest animation film festival. It runs from June 21st to 27th.
The series is set in a "puffy and squishy" world made with materials like shrink plastic and acrylic, and depicts the chaotic daily life of Ame, a girl who loves sweets, and Caries, a free-spirited tooth decay that lives inside Ame's mouth. It was released on YouTube in March 2021 and has gained popularity. It will be broadcast as a TV anime on TBS's information variety program "Yoru no Brunch" (Wednesdays at 11:56 PM) starting April 15th.
