It has been announced that NTV announcer Erina Iwata will be making a guest appearance in the TV anime "Snowball Earth," which is based on the manga by Yuichiro Tsuji that is serialized in "Monthly Spirits" (Shogakukan). In the first episode, Iwata will appear as a reporter who broadcasts the battle between the main character Tetsuo and his robot best friend Yukio to the public on television.
A video titled "Ice Age-Style Weather Forecast," featuring announcer Iwata appearing as a reporter on the set of the station's information variety show "Shuichi," has also been released. He introduces the topic by asking, "Is the whole world becoming a snowball Earth?" and describes the state of the Japanese archipelago covered in snow and ice, in the style of the program's weather segment. The video will be shown on various screens in Tokyo, including the Unica Vision in Shinjuku and Shibuya, until March 29th.
The series is a sci-fi x monster x robot action story set on Snowball Earth, a planet covered in snow and ice. The comic books have sold over 800,000 copies.
The anime will be directed by Munehisa Sakai and produced by Studio KAI. The cast includes Takuto Yoshinaga as Tetsuo Yabusame, Daisuke Hirakawa as Yukio, Ami Koshimizu as Aoi Nogi, and Yoshimi Tamura as Kanon Takimura. It will air on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" every Friday at 11:30 PM starting April 3rd.
