TBS Shinichiro Azumi Azumi appeared in the Spring 2026 issue of the magazine "Weekly Bunshun WOMAN" (Bungei Shunju), which went on sale on March 23rd. In the essay series "Mirror River" by essayist Yayako Uchida, where she reflects on her partner, Azumi spoke about his "separated marriage," which continues even after the birth of their first child.
Announcer Azumi, who got married in 2024 at the age of 50, explained the circumstances that led to his decision to register his marriage: "Since 2021, I've been in charge of the morning information program from Monday to Thursday, so I'm in Akasaka (where TBS is located) six days a week and living on a strictly fixed schedule. I thought, 'Maybe I can get married like this.'"
On the other hand, she said that she has chosen a "separate living arrangement under the same roof," where they live separately in the same apartment building, and she also explained the reasons for this.
Announcer Anzumi and his wife exchange weekly schedules in advance and contact each other before visiting each other's homes, a lifestyle that surprised Uchida, who commented, "It's not like Prince Genji, but essentially it's a visiting marriage, isn't it?" He also talked about why, despite being a popular announcer, he hasn't gone freelance and remains a TBS employee.
Photographs taken by Uchida were also released. January 15th, the day the interview took place, was the birthday of Uchida's late mother, Kirin Kiki, so Azumi appeared at the interview site with a large bouquet of flowers.
