The latest theatrical film in the popular anime series " Doraemon, " based on the manga by Fujiko F. Fujio, " Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Great Adventure in the South Seas," has surpassed 1.89 billion yen in box office revenue in just 17 days since its release on February 27th. It has also attracted over 1.47 million viewers. It has topped the weekend box office rankings (according to Kogyo Tsushinsha) for three consecutive weeks.
Three new visuals depicting the depths of the ocean, the setting for the theatrical film's adventure, have also been released. They show Doraemon and his friends playing with sea creatures, El, a sea creature desperately trying to communicate something, the towering Demon Rock Castle, and Doraemon and his friends struggling in an underwater buggy. When the three images are placed vertically, they form one large visual, representing everything from the light-filled surface of the water to the mysterious depths of the ocean.
A series of posts by director Tetsuo Yajima revealing behind-the-scenes details of the production has also started on the official Twitter account for "Doraemon the Movie" (@doraeiga). Regarding the opening scene in which Nobita does his homework with the encouragement of Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo, Director Yajima revealed, "It's an important scene that clearly shows the relationship between the four of them, so we carefully finished the atmosphere and colors," and the art boards were released.
"Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's New Great Adventure in the Sea" is a reimagining of the 1983 film "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Great Adventure in the Sea," which has been loved by fans for many years, approximately 43 years later.
