The final episode (episode 8) of the NHK BS historical drama "Furōgumo," starring actor Kuranosuke Sasaki, will air on March 15th. The subtitle of the episode is "The contrasting fates of Kondō Isami and Sasaki." Kondō Isami (Masato Wada) of the Shinsengumi has entered Shinagawa-juku and begins to keep an eye on Furōgumo (Sasaki)...
"Furōgumo" is a period drama based on the manga of the same name by George Akiyama. The story is set in Shinagawa-juku during the late Edo period. Furōgumo is an eccentric man who wears women's clothing and ties his hair in front of his forehead. With his fluffy and elusive appearance, he lives his days as he pleases, yet before he knows it, he gently influences the destinies of the people around him. It is a hymn to humanity filled with laughter and tears.
In the final episode, it seems that Sakamoto Ryoma was killed in Kyoto. Kondo Isami of the Shinsengumi also arrived in Shinagawa-juku to eliminate the anti-shogunate forces.
When Kondo requests an audience with him, Furōgumo surprisingly sends Shinnosuke (Eito Kawahara) in his place. Kondo calms the outraged soldiers and welcomes Shinnosuke with a smile, but begins to keep an eye on Furōgumo. Meanwhile, Professor Aota (Gota Watanabe), who has been entrusted with a booklet written by Ryoma by an old friend who is part of the anti-shogunate faction, turns to Furōgumo for help and shows him the booklet...
