The TV anime series "Darwin Incident," based on the manga by Shun Umezawa, which was recently selected as the Grand Prize winner at the Manga Taisho Awards 2022, will enter the "Lucy Kidnapping Incident Arc" from episode 9, which will air on March 3rd. A new promotional video has been released on YouTube, depicting a scene of Lucy sleeping after being kidnapped by ALA, as well as a fierce battle between Charlie and ALA.
In episode 8, with the aftermath of the Red Pill shooting still reverberating in Shrews, Deputy Sheriff Phil visits Bart and suggests that they leave Shrews with Charlie. The trailer for "Lucy's Abduction" includes a scene in which Charlie, upon learning that Lucy has been kidnapped by the ALA, calmly tells Rivera, "Don't hurt Lucy, or I'll kill you." Charlie then sets out on his own to rescue Lucy. "Lucy's Abduction" also reveals new secrets about Charlie, Lucy, and the ALA.
"Darwin Incident" has been serialized in "Afternoon" (Kodansha) since 2020. Charlie, a "humanzee" born between a human and a chimpanzee, faces human problems such as terrorism, online outrage, and discrimination. The series has sold over 2.2 million copies in total.
The anime is directed by Tsuda Naokatsu and produced by Belnox Films. Tanezaki Atsumi plays Charlie, a "humanzee" born from a human and a chimpanzee, Kobe Mitsuho plays Lucy Eldred, who Charlie meets when he enrolls at the school, and Otsuka Akio plays Rivera Feyerabend. It is currently airing on TV Tokyo.
